The State shall, within the context of the ideals and objectives for which provisions are made in this Constitution.
(a) harness the resources of the nation and promote national prosperity and an efficient, a dynamic and self-reliant economy: This means that the government will effectively and efficiently utilize the resources of the country. They will seek to do activities that will help promote economic growth and development in the country to make the country self sufficient.
(b) control the national economy in such manner as to secure the maximum welfare, freedom and happiness of every citizen on the basis of social justice and equality of status and opportunity: This is a confirmation that the government will manage the economy to protect the lives and property of the citizens, uphold the freedom of speech of the citizens. They also promised to maintain the rule of law confirming to see everybody as equal. As stated in the constitution, freedom and happiness of every citizen on the basis of social justice and equality of status and opportunity this means that the government will see to it that there is no favouritism or nepostism whatsoever in the discharge of its duties and and recommending people for jobs and other important opportunities.

(16A) Make effective use of the resources of the country (e.g crude oil) by ensuring that the gains from harnessing those resources are used in ensuring the country and it's citizens are prosperous. To also make sure gains from those resources are used in ensuring the country has self sufficiency in production of goods and services.
(16B) Ensure that the citizens are fairly treated irrespective of class (upper, middle and lower class). Make sure citizens are free from oppression by other citizens and that there won't be any form of discrimination in terms of appointments and interpreting the law.
(16C) The government will also be a major player in the major sectors of the Nigerian economy.
